Tirofiban 5 mg/100 mL Infusion
1. Dosage Form
Sterile intravenous infusion containing 5 mg of tirofiban in 100 mL solution.

2. Mechanism of Action
Tirofiban is a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor antagonist.
It inhibits platelet aggregation by preventing fibrinogen binding to glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptors on activated platelets.
Reversible inhibition of platelet function.

3. Main Indications
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS):
Unstable angina.
Non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).

To reduce thrombotic cardiovascular events in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

4. Dose
Initial dose (loading dose): 25 mcg/kg administered as a bolus over 3 minutes.
Maintenance dose: 0.15 mcg/kg/min as a continuous infusion for up to 18 hours.

5. Side Effects
Common:
Bleeding (at puncture sites, GI tract, or urogenital tract).
Thrombocytopenia.
Headache.

Serious:
Severe bleeding.
Intracranial hemorrhage.


6. Precautions
Monitor platelet counts during treatment.
Avoid use in patients with active bleeding, severe hypertension, or recent stroke.
Adjust dose in patients with renal impairment.
